Weaver's Choice: Fiber in the Environmental and Social Landscape 
Duration: 2 hours 
Synopsis 
The seminar will include a slide show and resource notebook.  Topics move from raw fiber sources and production to end product and by-product usage. 
Fibers discussed will include cotton--the differences between conventional, sustainable, and organic agricultural practices, recycled cotton, naturally colored cotton, and cotton properties. The terms used in marketing organic cotton and its look-alikes will be explained.  Recycling of cotton will be discussed with an update on the state of the art. 
A discussion of mill by-products and waste products will follow, with slides, samples, and ideas for re-use and recycling.

Synopsis 
A slide show and discussion of the terminology, history, and use of crepe and collapse fabrics. The possible variations and the results on the fabric will be discussed.  Show and tell will follow.
